Ashish Chowdhry is making a dashing entry in the serial Ek Muthi Aasman this week. Promos show him landing from a chopper, no less! The stylish promo caught the attention of his Dhamaal co-star Riteish Deshmukh, who tweeted, “Just saw the most rocking introduction promo of @AshishChowdhry @ ZeeTV #EkMutthiAasmaan #Re defining style on TV. No one does it better”.
At the same time, wife Genelia wrote “Navra (Marathi for hubby!) just showed me the intro promo of @AshishChowdhry @ZeeTV … so proud of u Ashish … Ur looking awesome.” An elated Ashish can’s stop gushing about it. “Ritesh has been by my side through my toughest times and he always feels I deserve better. As soon as I got the promo I sent it to him and he liked it,” says Ashish.
Ask him about shooting the chopper sequence and he says he never got such a lavish entry in films! “A chopper was booked for four hours and we shot while I was flying - even the interiors.
When I landed, the blades were kept running as I walked out. There was a fleet of cars including a Mercedes waiting for me and a bunch of bodyguards. It was like a Sajid Nadiawala film,” he grins.
Ek Mutthi Asmaan will be Ashish’s second innings. He had started his career on TV, moved to films and is now making a comeback. “When I left TV, I was the highest paid actor on the small-screen. The last serial I did was Hum Pardesi Ho Gaye. In films I was doing multi-starrer comedies like Dhamaal and Double Dhamaal, but how much can you do? That was one of the reasons I decided to do TV. My role in the serial is way away from comedy. My character Singhania is a mature and complex personality,” he elaborates. Ashish, who recently got on board of an ad agency Curry Nation, is playing an ad guy in the serial too! Says Ashish, “I grew up around the ad world as my father was the founder of an agency called Art Advertising and Marketing.
Unfortunately, he lost his business. It was for him that I got on board of an ad agency. Now, playing an ad guy is not new to me.” His character will be shrouded in mystery though. “Yes, I am playing a tycoon, a good guy who has revenge in his mind,” elaborates Ashish looking forward to the response to his track.
