RAJESH SINGH

Are you excited about the swayamvadhu?
I’m a little nervous. This event marks a turn in the life of the Sarabhais and determines the course of the serial.

Will Roshesh’s decision be guided by mama Sarabhai?
In real life I made my own choice and am very happy with Madhavi. But Roshesh leaves it to his mum.

What traits does Roshesh look for in his wife?
Definitely more of Maya Sarabhai’s traits and less of Monisha’s! She will have to pass the standards set by his mum.

It seems to be more of a putradan (giving away of the son in marriage) for Maya Sarabhai.
Sure, it will be difficult for Maya to let go of her dear son. But this whole event has been successful in getting viewers interested and has given a new lease of life to the show.

What kind of feedback has playing Roshesh received?
I am happy that I have been able to make this over-the-top character so authentic that people think that I am like this in real life too. Once the show ends, I will look back to these days with fondness.

How does your wife Madhavi react to this drama?
She is okay with it. It’s a professional hazard. She says, ‘Ja rahe ho toh achchi ladki lana’.

MADHAVI CHOPRA

How do you feel about Rajesh’s on-screen swayamvadhu?
Honestly, no woman would like her man to search for a bride whether in real or reel life. But we are taking it in the right spirit. It’s a joke at home that beta bahu lene ja raha hai.

Roshesh is a quintessential mama’s boy. What about Rajesh?
All men are basically mama’s boys. It depends on how well they can hide this truth. Rajesh  is extremely fond of his mother and looks up to her.

Some people think that Rajesh is  much like Roshesh.
My grandmother’s friends were flabbergasted that I could have married a guy like that. People on the roads are surprised when they hear the two of us conversing. They cannot believe that Rajesh speaks normally. I am proud that he has been so convincing in his portrayal of Roshesh.

Will this swayamvadhu change Rajesh in any way?
No way! I just hope he gets a little more romantic. That would be the positive outcome of all this hungama.
