A far cry from his otherwise unconventional choices in life and films, actor Abhay Deol is pretty low-key when it comes to celebrating his birthday.
The actor does not believe in big bashes and is wary of surprise parties his friends throw for him. “I don’t remember the last time I had an elaborate birthday bash. I stopped celebrating birthdays since I turned 25. Also I am not too much of a party person. I usually get together with friends or family and end up doing a low key dinner,” he adds.
The actor doesn’t sweat the small stuff if someone forgets to wish him on his birthday. “It is really not a big deal. I am so bad at remembering birthdays that I am okay with people who forget mine,” says the actor, adding that he never makes any resolutions on birthdays.
But making resolutions or not, he does wish that his movie, Shanghai does well. “I am hoping the film is received well by the audience and it does well,” he dimples.
So does girlfriend, actor Preeti Desai plan to throw him a birthday bash? “Well, you will have to find that,” quips Abhay. “I have no idea about the bash, and I hope there’s no such thing happening as I hate surprise parties. In fact, I don’t like surprises of any kind,” he adds. The actor is quite clearly not waiting to be flooded with gifts as he’s gone and gifted himself a car recently. “It’s not exactly a birthday gift, but can pass off as one as I got it around the time of my birthday,” he divulges.
Besides the car, Abhay says that he treasures another gift he got recently, the one from filmmaker Prakash Jha. “Prakash was the one who actually gave me a special gift this time. He gave me this film (tentatively titled, Chakravyuh) which is an intense action drama. I am looking forward to begin shooting for the film in April,” he said.
