Following the Deol legacy of action-oriented roles, the actor finally does hardcore action for the first time in the upcoming Prakash Jha film.

Unlike his star uncle Dharmendra or actor cousins Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, actor Abhay Deol has always deviated more towards off-beat cinema than hardcore masala fare. Neither has the actor ever been seen doing hardcore action fare on screen that the Deols are known for. But seems like Abhay will finally be following in the Deol legacy and will be seen doing some heavy duty action in Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh.

The first look revealed of the actor in the film shows him carry a gun and in combat mode. When contacted a source from the film confirms that Abhay will indeed be revealing his action side in this film. “The film is based on Naxalites and Abhay is playing one in the film, while Arjun (actor Arjun Rampal) plays a cop. So, the nature of the film is such that it requires a lot of action scenes in the forests.”  However, a production official reveals that the action won’t be in the masala style, where he will single-handedly take down 30-40 men. “The film has a lot of real-time action, so there will be more chase sequences and we’ve made Abhay run a lot. In fact, he’s done all the sequences himself and seemed absolutely at ease doing all the action, though he’s done it for the first time,” says the insider.

The actor who was last seen in Shanghai is said to be excited about having done action for the first time as well. A source close to the actor says, “Abhay has done a lot of running in the film. But he’s more excited about is that even though it’s action, it’s action that he can relate to more realistically. It wasn’t like a hero taking down a few dozen baddies completely on his own. The action here is more to do with sudden attacks and police encounters.”

And apparently everyone on the sets couldn’t help but point out how the action came naturally to Abhay, as after all he’s a true-blue Deol. “It’s all in his genes,” adds the source.
