A source tells us, “Priyadarshan is currently contemplating on featuring Abhishek and Deepika for his next film. Though their on-screen chemistry fizzled out in Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama, Priyadarshan is positive that he can make their jodi work in his film.”

The film is set to be a comic-drama based around a family. “The project is still in its early stage, where nothing has been finalised yet. They are yet to lock down on the actors, as well as the dates. But most probably they will go on the floors in the middle of the year,” the source adds.

Both the actors have not worked with Priyadarshan before, even though Deepika had done an item number for his film Billu (2009), apparently on good friend, actor Shah Rukh Khan’s insistence.

Interestingly, Deepika was initially supposed to make her debut with Priyadarshan’s film, but instead chose Farah Khan’s SRK starrer Om Shanti Om.

“Priyadarshan was obviously not happy with Deepika because of how the events turned out. But three years later SRK got Deepika to do a dance number for the director. Things probably changed from then on, as now it appears that they have buried the hatchet,” adds a source.

Now, Priyadarshan is thinking of roping in the actress for the lead role opposite Abhishek for his next comedy.
