This popular yesteryear South Indian actress, who now lives in Bangalore, will add another feather to her cap on November 1.
Sowcar Janaki is one of the 60 recipients of the Kannada Rajyotsava award by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah. This award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a 20-gram gold medal besides a citation.
Sankaramanchi Janaki (now known as Sowcar Janaki) started her career as a radio artist and it was only after her marriage that she actually started her movie career. It is thanks to her first Telugu film Shavukar that she got the name Sowcar. The actress has worked with all the top stars in Telugu and Tamil like NT Rama Rao, MGR, Sivaji Ganesan.
