Singer Adele has reportedly been ordered to pay back £2.5 million to the taxman after officials notice she paid herself too much.
The 28-year-old 'Hello' hitmaker overpaid herself the eye-watering sum and accountants spotted her embarrassing mistake, reported Female First.
"This is embarrassing. Adele likes to portray herself as a woman of the people so an incident like this which brings attention to her massive wealth isn't good," a source said.
Adele apparently received £7 million pounds from one of the two firms she has set up but was asked to pay back a hefty portion of the profits when the blunder came to light.
"All relevant disclosures have been made in the company accounts. As clearly stated within the report, the position has been resolved," a representative for the 'Skyfall' hitmaker said.
