Ajith's latest movie Yennai Arindhaal which released on a working day has been a hit in the theatres. The action-thriller has managed to collect Rs 20.83 crores in the first two days of its release.
The film was trending on Twitter after the trailer of the film was released last month. Now, post release, Yennai Arindhaal has reportedly been doing extremely well in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
"It's very unlikely for a star's film to release on a Thursday and expect to rake in the moolah, but 'Yennai Arindhaal' has achieved that. On release day, it collected a gross of about Rs.11.5 crore and went on to mint a total of Rs. 20.83 crore in the first two days," said trade analyst Trinath.
Yennai Arindhaal is directed by Gautham Menon who is also known for his films Kaakha Kaakha(2003), Vaaranam Aayiram (2008) and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010).
The film also stars Trish and Anushka Shetty in lead roles.
The film has been getting mixed reviews from Ajith fans. Audiences have reportedly complained about the pace of the film being too slow and that the film has a few traces from Menon's earlier films.
