According to trade buzz, the satellite rights of Akshay Kumar’s next release It’s Entertainment have been sold for a record whopping Rs 100 core to Zee TV, making it the highest price paid for his film.
The film revolves around Akshay and the antics of a super dog. Producer Ramesh Taurani while refusing to confirm the figure says, “Yes, I have sold it to Pen at a huge amount!”
Jayantilal Gada from Pen says, “I can’t say at what price I bought It’s Entertainment but yes, it’s a humongous amount. We have had five releases till now — Kahani, Singh Saab The Great, Issaq, Mahabharata and Sholay 3D. If you have noticed, all the five films are of different genres and content-driven. We buy whatever has good content. We bought It’s Entertainment for various reasons — the film is directed by debutant directors Sajid-Farhad who have a great track record as writers (Bol Bacchan, Golmaal, Chennai Express). So I look for films with good content. We also want films which have repeat value and which we can show repeatedly on television. It’s Entertainment is one such film. I am very confident about what the film has to offer.”
Salman Khan’s Jai Ho, to be released this month, is the film that has been sold at the highest till now this year at Rs 120 crore.
