This recent Tamil film has been declared a hit winning accolades for its director Vetrimaaran. Visaranai is based on a novel called Lock Up penned by M Chandrakumar and the movie was produced by Vetrimaaran and Dhanush.
The latest news is that the film, which deals with police brutality and how the lives of four innocent men changes overnight, is now going to be remade by director Priyadarshan.
When dna spoke to director Vetrimaaran, he said, "The Hindi remake rights for Visaranai have been bought by director Priyadarshan. As of now, that's the confirmed news. Akshay Kumar is not in the Hindi remake. That is not true."
Director Vetrimaaran premiered this movie in the Orrizonti (Horizons) section of the 72nd Venice Film Festival in Italy. It went on to win the 'Amnesty International Italia Award'.
The director also confirmed that Akshay Kumar will be watching his film this weekend in Mumbai. "Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have worked together earlier and are friends," he added.
As of now, director Priyadarshan has the Hindi remake rights but nothing has been finalised beyond that. Visaranai is a hard-hitting film that deals with many aspects of Indian society that we choose to ignore.
