The new Netflix show from the Marvel stable that will soon be part of The Defenders

Iron Fist is a title earned by Danny Rand (played by Game of Thrones’ Finn Jones), the son of a billionaire who returns to New York City after being presumed dead for 15 years. He is trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. But this will not be an easy ride. He will have to fight the baddies with his kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

According to showrunner Scott Buck, the person behind Dexter, Danny Rand is a complicated character. Buck has said, “He’s a billionaire New York Buddhist monk martial arts superhero who’s still trying to figure out what exactly that all means.”

Rand’s story runs very close to the origin story of Bruce Wayne aka Batman. Billionaire loses parents, learns the martial arts from mystical teachers, comes back to his city and fights crime and board members of Daddy’s corporate empire to get control of it.

Iron Fist will premiere on Netflix on March 17. All 13 episodes will be available for streaming at once.

WHAT NEXT?

Iron Fist will join Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage to become The Defenders. They are the second rung of the Marvel superheroes after The Avengers. Netflix will bring The Defenders on the streaming platform in September.
