An Easter surprise

Whoever said there’s trouble brewing between Sanjay Dutt and sis Priya? After Hours captures the superstar celebrating the festival of new beginnings with her, brother-in-law Owen and his two nephews

He walks in his usual swagger just minutes after we asked his sister Priya Dutt the last question. And Sanjay Dutt seems to be in a hurry. He quickly pulls his sister aside, says something animatedly in a hushed tone, before turning back to say ‘hi’.

“Is it? Oh!” Sanjay exclaims with his droopy eyes wide open as we tell him that we are here to do a special photo-shoot for Easter with Priya, her husband Owen      Roncon and their two children, four-and-a-half-year old Sumair and two-and-half-month old Siddharth.

We ask him if he has any special plans for the day. “Nothing as such ya. I guess it will be a nice holiday to spend with my family. I am not planning to do anything special. You guys will be going to the church in the evening, na?” says Sanjay, turning towards Owen.

True, you will find Priya, Owen and the children at Mount Mary’s Church this evening as part of their annual Easter ritual.

“Father (of Mount Mary’s Church) will be expecting us. There cannot be a nicer way of celebrating Easter than this and you know what? This will be the little one’s first Easter,” Priya points out to Sumair, who seems to be more interested in the camera than the Easter eggs we have got for him.

“He has the cutest smile in the world,” declares Sanjay mamu proudly even as Priya and Owen nod in agreement.

“My older one is very camera conscious, by the way. Just ask him to smile and see how he smiles,” says Owen.

Siddharth has at least 10 kinds of ‘smiles’ in his kitty, and seems to be a natural actor. “You want to be an actor?” we ask him.  “Nah!” he answers promptly as he grabs hold of an Easter   bunny.

“He is a brat,” Sanjay butts in. It’s very apparent that the mama-bhanja duo has a special bond and it’s very strong.
Easter’s signifies a new beginning for all. Doesn’t Priya want to wish that the rough edges of her brother’s ‘new beginning’ becomes  smooth for now?

“My wishes are always with him. And Sanju knows that too. We have been together through thick and thin and we will be that way. We have become too old now to take decisions for each other, isn’t it?” Priya says promptly, as we try to broach the Maanyata (Sanju’s wife) topic in the absence of her brother.

“There’s no animosity between us. It’s not the way what the media has made it out to be,” she adds.

No, she chooses not to say a word about Maanyata as Owen immediately comes to her side and says, “Why talk about those things now?”

Agreed!
