Veteran Dev will play the protagonist in son Suneil’s musical thriller
Randhir Kapoor is one privileged actor who has had the opportunity to direct his legendary father Raj Kapoor in movies like ‘Kal Aaj aur Kal’ ( 1971) and in ‘Dharam Karam’ ( 1975).
Veteran Dev Anand’s son Suneil Anand too has secret plans to direct his dad. “Right now it’s all under wraps. But I am working on the script, which will have my dad playing a central character. It’s a musical thriller. I will also be acting in it. We hope to start shooting next year after our latest venture ‘Charge Sheet’ is complete,” discloses Suneil who has acted in five films including his directorial debut ‘Master’ (2001), a movie based on martial arts.
Incidentally, Suneil who had acted with his father in his debut film ‘Anand Aur Anand’ (1984), preferred to keep a low-profile at the recent star-studded book release of Dev’s autobiography ‘Romancing with Life’.
“Believe me, I have not yet read or even seen it. The contents have been a closely guarded secret until this day. But I am ecstatic that even at 84, my dad, who has had the longest innings (60 years) in cinema, is still going strong. The book will be a ‘flashback’ into what Dev Anand the man, the actor and the romantic is all about,” says Suneil.
Dev too seems eager to work with son Suneil. “After all he is a chip off the old block. I guess he should be able to come up with something exciting. It will be yet another moment of glory, when he will announce ‘action’ and I will face the camera,” says the father.
