Armaan Malik

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Armaan Malik lists five romantic tracks that he loves

Armaan Malik, who’s often called the ‘Prince of Romance’, has uber mushy numbers to his credit, whether singles like the reinterpretation of Ghar Se Nikalte Hi and Bol Do Na Zara or film melodies such as Sab Tera from Baaghi and Theher Jaa (October) among many others. Here, the young vocalist picks out his favourite five.

Pehla Nasha
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992)

I like how this song perfectly encapsulates the excitement and innocence of first love. It relates to everyone who’s ever felt the emotion for the first time.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
(1998

For every 90’s kid out like me, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was ‘the’ love anthem. I don’t think any other song gives you the feels of romance like this one does.

Tu Jaane Na
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009)

Atif Aslam’s voice in this track is super magnetic. It just draws you towards the song. There’s this Indian-ness in the melody and arrangements that’s just great.

(Clockwise from left) A still from Hawayein; Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor in Tu Jaane Na; Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2

Tum Hi Ho
Aashiqui 2
(2013)

What I like the most about this mature lover’s ballad is that there’s no flowery expression of feelings; it’s direct and passionate.

Hawayein
Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017)

Just as the name suggests, this one is like a breath of fresh air. It takes you on a journey. This is my personal favourite drive song!
