There’s more to actor Ashiesh Roy’s profile apart from being seen as Saurav Ghosh in ‘Aek Chabi Hai Padoss Mein’ (Star Plus). Ashiesh is also a professional dubbing artiste and translates and adapts foreign films into Hindi. His most recent adaptation is Bruce Willis starrer ‘Live Free or Die Hard’.

Ashiesh says, “When I was offered the new ‘Die Hard’ film to adapt in Hindi, I jumped at it. I am a geek, who knows every dialogue of the ‘Die Hard’ movies. I am also a fan of John McClane.”

However, Ashiesh says that adapting it in Hindi isn’t easy. “The new ‘Die Hard’ movie is highly technical and I am not tech-savvy at all. But the producers of the film, for whom I had also adapted ‘Finding Nemo’ and ‘Happy Feet’ earlier, were confident that I could write this one too,” says he.

Ashiesh has written and adapted over 200 foreign language films. Some of the Hollywood films he has written include ‘Rush Hour’, ‘Mistress of Spices’, and ‘Basic Instinct’.

Ashiesh recalls, “I got dubbing assignments before I got acting assignments. I got paid Rs 500 per assignment, which helped me make my portfolio.  What started off as a means of survival has become my passion today.”
