SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus has collected around Rs 50 crore from all its versions in India itself..

SS Rajamouli’s dream seems to have come true. After making possibly the grandest film in Indian cinema ever, expectations were sky rocketing and all eyes were on Baahubali’s first day collections. People were relying on its box office opening to gauge whether the film will connect with the masses. It did and how! The film has shattered all previous records and collected around Rs 50 crore (as per early reports) on its opening day, including all versions.

The occupancy for the film down South was around 95 to 100 percent whereas in other regions, the much anticipated war film’s opening day occupancy ranged around the 55% mark. The film has collected Rs 5.15 crore from its Hindi version alone. It has also taken the overseas market with a storm as the opening day collections in the US are higher than Aamir Khan’s PK.

Releasing in 3500 screens all over the country, this is exactly what the makers had aimed for. A historic opening to the film. With the Rs 50 crore opening, it has also turned out to be the biggest opener in Indian cinema (including all its dubbed versions). The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Tamannah Bhatia in leading roles.

Now with a good word of mouth that has followed, it needs to be seen if Baahubali can maintain its momentum and recover all its investment, given that the scale and the canvas on which the film has been set is magnanimous. Will Baahubali cross the Rs 100 crore mark on Saturday? Let’s see.
