A week back, Aditya Chopra had announced his big-ticket directorial venture Befikre. In a very emotional and touching imaginary conversation with papa Yash Chopra, Adi made the big announcement official. Now, the production house has made another grand announcement. And it's official now, Ranveer Singh will play the lead in Adi's next Befikre.
YRF also added a special video which has Ranveer Singh talking about his journey as a YRF hero. Yes, the actor who was struggling for years in the industry got his big ticket Bollywood break with YRF's Band Baaja Baaraat. Despite initial hiccups, Adi has chosen Ranveer as his Bittoo and the rest as we know is history.
So for Ranveer to get directed in a film by his mentor is definitely a proud moment. Recalling his time back then and now, Ranveer explained how he had similar emotions while signing both the films. The actor experienced a déjà vu. How? He explains, "I gave the auditions which was for this lead boy of a YRF film and after many auditions, I was called into this office (pointing at Adi's cabin in YRF in the video) where Adi sir sits. He sat me across the couch and gave me the news that I was selected. I sat there, nodding and sincerely listening to what he was saying. I stepped out of his room and I was walking through this corridor and here it dawned on me. The news was so overwhelming that I went down on my knees and realised what had just happened. Adi sir emerged from there and he saw me crying. He put his hands on my shoulder and said tu kar lega."
Five years later, the story hasn't changed much. "It has always been my dream to be in a film directed by my mentor Adi sir. I go to the same office, sits me down on the same couch and tells me, 'Ranveer, I am casting you in my next movie'. Same thing happens, I show no emotions and I walked out of his office, walking through the same corridoor and again in the corridoor I realised what just happened. I started crying again and again he emerges from there and he puts his arms across my shoulders and says, 'Tu kar lega'. This is something very close to my heart."
As they say, history repeats itself. So Ranveer, all the best! Befikar raho, because you are definitely one of the Befikre-s now!
