Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch will voice the Grinch in Illumination Entertainment's new retelling of Dr. Seuss children's book How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
The 39-year-old actor will voice the titular character, which was famously portrayed by Jim Carrey in the 2000 live-action adaptation, reported Ace Showbiz.
Illumination chairman Chris Meledandri, who will also produce the new Grinch movie, said that Cumberbatch had a voice that exudes "comedic wickedness while embodying vulnerability."
He previously lent his voice to both Smaug the Dragon and the Necromancer in The Hobbit movies. He also played Classified, a wolf who is also a secret agent in Penguins of Madagascar.
Cumberbatch has been a cast member of BBC radio comedy Cabin Pressure, he played Angel Islington in radio adaptaion of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere.
The film is set for release on November 10, 2017.
