The action drama Bhola Shankar, featuring Chiranjeevi in the titular role, was released in the cinemas on Friday, August 11, and it seems that the film has been rejected by the audiences within two days of its theatrical release. Directed by Meher Ramesh, the actioner has also received negative reviews from the moviegoers and critics.

As per the entertainment tacking portal Sacnilk.com, Bhola Shankar collected only Rs 5.05 crore on its second day. After taking a dismal opening of Rs 16.25 crore, the film's two-day net domestic collection stands at Rs 21.30 crore, which is quite less owing to the superstardom of Chiranjeevi.

Adding the gross domestic collection, the film has earned Rs 25.10 crore. From the foreign territories, the Chiranjeevi-starrer collected only Rs 4.50 crore in the first two days. This takes Bhola Shankar's two-day worldwide collection to Rs 29.60 crore. The actioner is facing stiff competition from three releases this week - Rajinikanth's Jailer, Sunny Deol's Gadar 2, and Akshay Kumar's OMG 2.

Apart from Chiranjeevi, Bhola Shankar also stars Tamannaah Bhatia as the 67-year-old actor's love interest, while Keerthy Suresh plays his adopted sister. The film is an official remake of Ajith Kumar's superhit film Vedalam released in 2015. In the original, Shruti Haasan played Ajith's love interest, whereas Lakshmi Menon played his sister.

The latest release marks Meher Ramesh's return to direction after 10 years as his last film was the Venkatesh-starrer Shadow, which turned out to be a commercial disaster in 2013. He has previously directed superstars such as Jr NTR, Prabhas, and the late Puneeth Rajkumar in action dramas, which also failed to perform well at the box office.READ | Jailer box office collection day 3: Rajinikanth film is unstoppable, crosses Rs 200 crore mark worldwide
