One of the male contestants of the African version of the reality TV show Big Brother has been evicted from the group home after getting into a brief tussle with a female contestant.

Even though the fight where the women was shoved violently, took a few seconds, it raised a flurry of comments on the Internet about the deeper question of violence toward women.

The broadcaster of the show said a profanity-laced argument over drinks started between Lerato Sengadi, a public relations worker from Johannesburg, and Hannington Kuteesa, a business owner from Kampala.

"They both got up in each other's faces, and the pushing and shoving started," broadcaster M-Net said in an Internet posting this week.

Hannington, as he is known on the show, is seen in a video clip as grabbing Lerato's ear and the two start a shoving match where the woman ends up being pushed to a wall.

"No one deserves to be hit," viewer Emma Otanga wrote on a comment page.
