July 1 seems to be quite a red letter day this year for Bollywood, with AB Corp Ltd releasing their Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap and Aamir Khan Productions choosing the same day for Delhi Belly. Just two films? Or, two films that the audience can’t wait to watch?  Both the films have two very versatile actors as producers, so it’s not surprising that Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are going all out with their films. Recently, Aamir shot a promotional video for the film, Shake That Biscuit Baby, which has him in a retro look — tight white pants, heeled boots, an unruly wig and a pair of chunky shades.

Not to be left behind, Big B too shakes his leg to many numbers in his film, one being, Go Meera Go, which is actually a medley of songs from his previous hits — Yaarana, Don, Namak Halaal and Silsila. In fact, the rap portion of the song has been done by none other than Abhishek Bachchan, a first for him. And unlike most weeks, this time, there seems to be no animosity between the two makers. Says a film-maker, on conditions of anonymity, “It’s ridiculous to even hope that the perfectionist Aamir would want to take on a superstar like Big B head-on. However much the media and the audience would expect some friction, there isn’t any.” So to say both the films are from different genres —one, an entertainer complete with an item number, fights, thrills, songs, mush and the other, an English film, very contemporary and a laughathon.

Even trade analysts feel that placing the two films at loggerheads isn’t right. “People love Amitabh for what he does and the very same people want to see Aamir tell the perfect story. In such a scenario, it’s no more a battle of nerves but a matter of peaceful co-existence,” says an industry insider.
