An online war has broken out between Twitter fans of actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, with each claiming their idol to be a bigger star. The bone of contention seems to be an online survey carried by a marketing house recently.

The poll results had Shah Rukh topping it with Salman in the third rung. The poll, which was closely timed with the release of Shah Rukh’s recent release, had the actor topping the poll with actor Hrithik Roshan and Salman coming a close second and third respectively. “A few online forums have denounced the claims, claiming that the results are not accurate as Salman is no way less popular than Hrithik. In fact, Hrithik doesn’t have more followers than Salman,” says an online voter who participated in the poll and was referring to the Twitter following.

An official, however, clarifies that the poll reflect the results to a specific question: ‘Who will be a bigger star in 2015?’ The poll participants were asked to vote for the star, who they think will outrun the others in another four years.

“The result clearly says that Shah Rukh and Hrithik will last longer than Salman in terms of shelf life. The users didn’t vote on who is a bigger star.  Also, it must be pointed out here that the results are not based on any research work. The results are based on users who participated in the online poll,” says the official.

Actor Aamir Khan’s name is conspicuously missing from the list as he’s not that active on Twitter. He’s more active on Facebook.
