Two films hit the screens on Friday - Sonakshi Sinha starrer Khandaani Shafakhana and Hollywood action flick Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw. As per Box Office India, Sonakshi's film witnessed a low occupancy on the opening day of about 5% to 10%, while Hobbs & Shaw hit 30% mark which was pretty similar to the likes of Spiderman - Far From Home and The Lion King.
A while back, trade analyst Girish Johar tweeted, "Very Very #EarlyTrends of Fri BO suggest #HobbsAndShaw leading followed by #TheLionKing #Super30 #JudgementallHaiKya #KhandaaniShafakhana"
Now as per reports in the trading website Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw has minted about Rs 11 crore on its opening day which is slightly better than Spiderman - Far From Home. The film starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham has got the sixth-best opening for any Hollywood flick until now.
On the other hand, Khandaani Shafakhana has received a disastrous opening of about Rs 75 lakhs and it seems like a failure at the box office right away.
Talking about the film, Girish had earlier said, "Sonakshi Sinha has been trying to make decent choices in the last couple of years. Khandaani Shafakhana, from what one can see in the promo, seems to be another one of them. She has picked up a taboo subject this time. The film is making noise for sure. Badshah is also there, which has definitely added to its commercial value. The film appears to be in the Vicky Donor space. I feel if it is well made, audiences may start coming in by Friday evening, which may continue over the weekend."
