Karishma Tanna wants to play interesting cameo roles

Don’t go by the glam-gal-with-a-golden heart look of Ayesha in ‘Ek Ladki Anjaani Si’ (Sony). The good girl act is a mere put on as actor Karishma Tanna confesses “She has come with a definite negative motive. We are still deciding how her role will develop but she’s surely going to be a step ahead than Mohnish Bahl”.

In ‘Viraasat’ (Star Plus) too, she is the bone of contention between the lead pair Rohit Roy and Sangeeta Ghosh “I have been planted by Aman Varma to ruin their marriage. To add to it, the character has a soft corner for Rohit.”

She admits that both the characters are going on the same track. She claims, “I am taking extra effort to make them look different. The look and characterization is totally different in both. There is a blunt confidence in ‘Ek Ladki…’.whereas I play a demure girl who is emotionally-driven in ‘Viraasat’.”

Karishma is not exactly in search of lead roles “I would rather do interesting cameos. They offer more in scope of varied emotions. And I am trying my level best to break free from the cute image that I have acquired with “Kyunki Saas Bhi…”( Star Plus). People still know me as Indu. It is a task to break free from an image,” says an eager Karishma.

Was that the reason for her not continuing with the show after the generation leap “I was not called by Balaji. I respect Ekta’s discretion—a ‘marriage-crazy’ girl at 20 would not be harping about the same thing at 40, would she? But I am open to anything interesting that comes up in future. I know Ekta has me in mind” she says optimistically.

In a bid to prove her versatility, Karishma has also taken to theatre “I am busy with my play ‘The Perfect Wedding’. I want to prove that I am good in comedy as well as emotions” says she.
