“Like every kid of my generation, I have also grown up with Amitabh Bachchan films and I adore some of his cinematic gems. That’s the reason when I started making films, I had to take him in one of my films. Most of his blockbusters are obvious favourites, but he is amazingly versatile in some of his off-beat films too,” he says.

When it comes to naming his top-ten or top-five, he gives a hearty laugh. “I don’t understand this concept of picking up top-ten favourites or top-five. There are many films which have influenced me in some way or the other and there are many which I adore just as a viewer.”

He likes to see and experiment with all kinds of cinema from across the globe.

“But chick-flicks and mushy romantic films don’t interest me much,” he adds.

Farhan is a huge fan of both Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese. “Together, they have made some of the finest films like Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and Raging Bull,” he says.
