Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has received rave reviews for his musical debut on Broadway.

Radcliffe, 21, is currently starring as the lead in the 50th anniversary revival of the 1961 musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.

And after a month of previews, the play officially opened on March 28 to the public, who flocked inside the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Radcliffe plays J Pierrepont Finch, who relies on the rules of a guidebook called How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, to climb the corporate ladder and go from window washer to chairman of the board.

According to the Evening Standard, Radcliffe said he liked taking risks in theatre.

"I am so much more comfortable out of my comfort zone," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

"To me there's no point in doing it if it's not a challenge, particularly at this stage in my career. I've got plenty of years later if I want to sit back and take it easy if I can. Now is not the time.

"On stage, weirdly, I think I'm a lot less self-conscious than when I'm filming.

"When you're on film you've got more time to doubt yourself in between takes and more time to analyse. But when you're on stage you just have to get out there and do it," he added.
