Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt will be lighting up your screens this Friday. Their Dear Zindagi is hitting screens tomorrow and the Gauri Shinde directorial which has already released in other countries has received tremendously positive feedback for the film.
But before the film releases all over India, here's all you need to know about the film - from the budget to the box office estimates...
Budget:
1. Cost of Production: The film has been made at a meagre Rs 22 crore which is surprising. But the reason why the film's budget has been kept low is because of its niche content. SRK has not charged anything for the film and since he's a producer, any profit will be shared by him. So that makes sense.
2. Print And Publicity: The producers spent around another Rs 7-8 crore for the print, publicity and other miscellaneous activities. That also means the total landing cost of the film is around Rs 30 crore.
Other revenue:
1. Satellite Rights: The film's satellite rights have been sold for a decent Rs 25 crore.
2. Music Rights: The film's music has been sold for a good Rs 10 crore. And that means the film team has already raked in over Rs 35 corre even before its release. So the producers have already got an on-table profit of around 5-6 crore.
First day estimates:
Akshaye Rathi tells us, "It will shock you but Dear Zindagi is only releasing in around 1100 screens in India. That's shockingly low given that a Sultan has 5000 screens which is 5 times this one. But the marketing team has planned it brilliantly. They have targeted the multiplexes more because it's a niche film. So a good Rs 8 crore is definitely on the way for the team. And it's incredible, considering the low screen count they have."
Distributors:
The distributors are NH Media in India and Reliance has bought the overseas distribution rights. They have paid around Rs 25-30 crore for Dear Zindagi and that means the film needs to at least do a 50-60 crore business at the box office to break even for the distributors. Producers are already at a plus though.
