The show spotlights the hopes and aspirations of tweens

Girls just wanna have fun! And when the girls are 16-something and bubbly young things, the fun just doubles up. More so when there is music! This is what ‘Dhoom Machao Dhoom’, the first daily original series and second local show on Disney channel is all about.

‘Dhoom Machaao Dhoom’ tells the story of four young girls—Toral Rasputra, Aanchal Bharti, Sriti Jha and Maanvi Gagroo—who form a pop band Pink in the show. They fight against all odds to shape it, reflecting the tastes, preferences and struggles of children today.

Ravina Raj Kohli, the creator of the show says, “It took us six months to cast them. I instantly saw star value in them. It didn’t matter that they were not famous.” What the team is also proud of is that when everybody else is busy with kitchen politics or reality shows, Walt Disney is busy thinking of ways to please the ‘ignored’ lot of 10-14 year olds.

As Nachiket Pantvaidya, executive director, Walt Disney Television International (India) says, “Kids are a default audience. They watch what their elders watch and what they are given to watch. This is where we are working to make a difference.” So, if you find them singing a la Aerosmith, ‘Pink is my favourite crayon’, don’t be surprised!

The show will premiere on January 8, 2007.
