Amitabh Bachchan's latest release 'Pink' has gathered immense applause, but did you know the hidden meaning behind the film's title?

Shoojit Sircar, in his latest offering Pink has portrayed all that is wrong with the mindsets of the patriarchal Indian society. Not only does the movie bring to light the manner in which working girls are looked at in today's day and age (by a certain section), but it also delivers a very important, known-yet-ignored message.

On hearing the film's title and then after watching the movie, many deciphered that the reason it's given the title Pink is because the colour is generally associated to women and all-things-girl(y). Well, sorry to burst the bubble for you, that's not the reason why it's called Pink.

When Shoojit Sircar was asked about the same, before the movie was released, he had replied saying that people will come to know of its meaning after watching the film. Sadly, they took the meaning in a different direction altogether.

Anyway, looks like Veeresh Malik, in his blog on TOI, has answered the question, why is the film titled Pink, as he writes, "...the various urban dictionaries online define “pink” as a reference to forced and often cruel or threat based occupation of a vagina by an unwelcome penis. That’s about as hard-hitting as it gets, there are other racial undertones also, which I first heard about, way-way back in the ’70s." In simpler terms, "vagina of the sort that is bought, with violence."

Those who've watched the movie already, will now get a clearer picture about how the title is relevant to the film.
