She’s used to the lights, camera and action. But what VJ-turned-actor Mia Uyeda isn’t used to is the role that she’s playing in Blood Money. Ever since the promos came on air, there’s been a lot of buzz about her on screen intimacy with co-actor Kunal Khemu.
“Are people really talking about me?” she quizzes back, feigning complete ignorance. “The film actually has a lot more to it than just oomph and skin, so I’d really not want the audience to restrict themselves to just that,” she adds. Ask her about some of those very intimate moments in the film and she says, “Of course, I was nervous about shooting them — I didn’t know Kunal till before the film though I had heard about him. In fact, my director, Vishal Mahadkar, had briefed me in advance and after all, we were just role playing. But thankfully, there hasn’t been a single moment when I felt this wasn’t right — hopefully, I’m convincing enough,” she states.
Working with the Bhatts has been quite an experience for this newcomer. “There’s so much of positive energy on the sets and they made me feel at home. I didn’t want to disappoint them either and made it a point to rehearse my lines and scenes well before shoot — it’s a mutual feeling of camaraderie,” explains Mia. Playing a character with grey shades has been quite a challenge. “Not only did I have to learn my lines right and emote but also get as involved as possible in the role – it’s not been easy but I love my job,” she says.
As she starts off her career in Bollywood, Mia is game for anything interesting, provided it challenges her. “Just as I’ve done Blood Money, which is a high intensity drama, I’d also like to act in a rom-com, thriller and so on. Neither do I have any inhibitions about playing bold roles.
“It’s a part of the job,” she says. Her list of to-do’s include item numbers, as well. “I love to dance and who wouldn’t want to do some sexy moves on screen?” signs off Mia.
