Double health hazard in Akhtar's family

It’s time for Javed Akhtar to deal with two health problems in his family. Both Honey Irani Akhtar (Javed’s former wife) and Shabana Azmi are incapacitated.

The poet-writer found it tough running back and forth to monitor the health of both the ladies. Shabana, who fractured her hand in South Africa last week, had to undergo bone surgery on Monday at Lilavati Hospital as the wrist bone did not heal properly. The surgery went well, and Shabana is expected to be home in a day or two.

Honey Irani too fell ill this week, so much so that son Farhan decided to cancel some of his promotional activities for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to focus on his mother’s health. She had a severe thyroid attack. Although Farhan confirms that his mother is on the road to recovery now, there are talks that he is planning to escort his mom to the US for treatment.

This is a big week for Farhan, whose Bhaag Milkha Bhaag releases this Friday.
