'Drishyam 2': Mohanlal reintroduces Georgekutty's family in new still

In very exciting news, Mohanlal treated fans with the new still of Drishyam 2. The superstar is joined by the cast of the original film who played his family including Meena, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil. They will be reprising their roles as Georgekutty, Rani, Anju, Anumol respectively. The first instalment Drishyam directed by Jeethu Joseph released in the year 2013, and the shoot for the sequel kickstart in September this year.

While sharing about Drishyam 2, Jeethu had earlier told The Hindu, "I decided to do Drishyam 2 only after thinking about it for years. Some of my friends had doubts, but when I showed them the first draft of the script, they too felt I could go ahead."

He further shared, "Antony Perumbavoor, who produced Drishyam and Mohanlal had also asked me to explore the possibilities."

When quizzed about the premise of Drishyam 2, Joseph went on to share, "It is about how the family responds to the life after the crisis. The police hadn’t closed the murder investigation. So the film will examine how the family deals with their own personal trauma and reactions from society."

Meanwhile, 2013 release Drishyam also starred Asha Sarath, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajon and Neeraj Madhav in pivotal roles. It has been remade in several languages including in Hindi by Nishikant Kamat which starred Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran in the lead roles.
