Actor Surendra Pal, who played the epic character in ‘Mahabharat’, will direct Shweta Tiwari in his maiden Bhojpuri venture.
Actor Surendra Pal, who shot to fame two decades ago as Dronacharya in ‘Mahabharat’, is now all set to produce and direct his first Bhojpuri film. Pal has teamed together the Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari and popular TV actor Shweta Tiwari (‘Kasauti Zindagi Ki’ fame) in his film ‘Apna Bahini Se Biyah Kara Dana’. The film’s cast includes Raza Murad and Mukesh Khanna. Incidentally, Shweta’s husband Raja Chowdhary will play a negative role in the film.
Surendra Pal confesses that he had no plans to direct when he decided to produce the film. It was only when the director Sunil R Prasad decided to opt out at the last minute that he took it up. “In any case, I have been toying with the idea of directing Hindi films for the last few years. So I took the plunge,” he reveals.
Surendra says that his film will be a lavish social set in the rural milieu. “Krishna Mishra who had directed the controversial film ‘Wounded’ (based on the life and times of the bandit queen Seema Parihar) is the designer of the project,” he adds.
Right now Surendra is busy with his various TV assignments including ‘Woh Rehnewali Mehlon Ki’ (SaharaOne) and ‘Prithviraj Chauhan’ (Star Plus). Besides Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ in which he is playing Uday Rana Singh, the young father of Maharana Pratap, Surendra is also working in around 15 Bhojpuri films.
