Actor Emraan Hashmi is living by his promise of not kissing on screen.
His forthcoming movie Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, an Ekta Kapoor production, has a very intimate scene between him and Prachi Desai that is a recreation of the classic romance scene from the film Bobby but Emraan has not done a lip-lock with her.
“I think I have been tagged as a kisser for long and I had decided that I will only do it when the film requires it and not because the film wants to draw USPs from kissing scenes. In my opinion I have tried to stay away from films that wanted to cast me over and over again in the same slot of a lover boy because that would lead to stereotyping me. But I don’t have any impositions when it comes to kissing or not kissing on screen. I will do it if I feel there is a creative need,” Emraan tells us.
The actor also hails the boldness displayed by Prachi Desai as she broke her image of a doting bahu on TV screen to wear a skirt and get into bed with Emraan.
“Prachi has a totally different image going. It was really bold on her part to do this and I really adore the guts she displayed as she was breaking away from what she is known for. But this will add another horizon to her career as she has pulled off this bold scene with ease. Initially she was apprehensive but the scene was not something that would make the censor board come crashing down with scissors,” he says.
Emraan is the only actor not belonging to the Khan and the Kapoor brigade to have survived as a solo lead in a market that is dominated by multi-starrers. He has delivered one hit after another to stamp his presence on the industry.
“There was a huge burden and risk when I decided that I will not do multi-starrers. Solo leads are a rarity in Bollywood but I decided to walk the line and thankfully got the films that had great scripts and music. I got praises for my acting too. So, I’m very happy that I did take the decision then as now people trust me to take the movie on my shoulders alone,” Emraan ends.
