Biopics on sportsperson seem to be quite the rage at the moment — what with Mary Kom and Milkha Singh’s stories already being told and Dhoni and Azhar set for some screen time. One name that demands a biopic is former Indian cricket captain and actor Saif Ali Khan’s father Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi.
The late Nawab’s life, his career and marriage to actress Sharmila Tagore could all make for an interesting story on screen. But son Saif isn’t too keen on the idea. And here’s why...
There were reports that someone is planning to make a biopic on your father…
(Laughs) I just hope it’s not some terrible person who’s planning to make a biopic on my father’s life. Because then, we will have to take action.
Does it look like a possibility?
No. The biopic seems unlikely.
Why?
I can’t imagine what kind of a film it would be. It’s a very exciting story which can be made into a lovely film. But it’s a bit beyond my reach. I don’t actually know. It’s such a good idea but I don’t know how we can actually do it.
Will you not be comfortable producing or acting in the film?
I wouldn’t be comfortable at all acting in the film or producing it because I would be so scared of letting down his memories or not making a brilliant film. I don’t know if my mother would give her blessings for such a film. But it could potentially be the best biopic ever.
