What's it about:
Everyone loves a good revenge drama. Whether its television or film, stories about vengeance especially set around a woman scorned in love or physically abused have often caught the attention of the audience across ages. Hate Story 2 takes the basic elements of sex and violence from the first film and amplifies it five fold to tell an engaging story. Sonika (Surveen) is the mistress of politician Mandar Mhatre (Sushant Singh) who dominates her causing major physical trauma. Despite the restrictions imposed by Mhatre, Sonika manages to fall in love with Akshay (Jay) during her photography class. What follows are a series of incidents that give the film its final conclusion. Sonika is buried alive by Mandar, but she manages to cheat death and come back to seek revenge on those who wronged her!
What's hot
The film belongs to Surveen. She's made a stunning transformation from playing the cutesy girl next door to becoming the badass chick no one wants to mess with. Writing is in sync with the genre and theme of the movie, while the action is overpowering and some times too much to handle. Jay Bhanushali despite his sketchy role is convincingly good and has a palpable chemistry with his co-star. The Aaj Phir Tum pe remix of the Dayavan track is shot beautifully.
What's not
We wish the writers would have paid some more attention to developing the story rather than just using sex and violence to take the plot ahead. Once Surveen gets the ball rolling there's no stopping the onslaught of killing. Also her make up and outfits look a bit jarring in a few frames.
What to do
If you want to be tiltated and seduced into watching a woman oriented revenge drama with lots of skin show and a Sunny Leone item song, then Hate Story 2 is the ticket to buy.
