For following in JK Rowling's footsteps

Being a management consultant, what propelled you to write a book on magical fantasy?

Writing this book was a form of personal expression, born out my childhood experiences, dreams, and fantasies. In any case, I believe that creative thinking is also intrinsic to consulting. Writing would hopefully keep the creative juices flowing!

Does the ‘The Magic of Maya’ cash in on the Harry Potter mania?

Well, they both happen to be fantasy tales, and it is hence great for the genre as a whole that JK Rowling has created such widespread interest and readership

Any reason that you made the protagonist a girl?

I believe this may have drawn from my own desire to have a magical adventure! As a reader, I have always found it fascinating to dive into a new place with its own set of rules, and perhaps with a bit of danger and excitement lurking around the corner.

Was JK Rowling an inspiration in any way?

I enjoy reading several fantasy writers – including Rowling, and also Lewis Carroll, Tolkien and Indian mythology.
