"I haven’t seen the film and don’t even know when I will see it,” says actor Vinay Rai, who’s currently working on his next Tamil film, on his recent venture Dam999.
The film, which didn’t really receive great reviews from the Indian audience, was also in 3D and yet failed to cast its charm. “English films made in India don’t really receive the kind of attention in this country. But as for me, it was an interesting learning experience; I gave up a corporate career to become an actor and wanted to experiment with different kinds of roles. Dam999 was one of those. And honestly, to me, it was just an experiment and I don’t regret doing the film,” he says.
What does he think of the film? “You know, I haven’t seen the final film yet and I am not even sure when I am going to be able to see it. But like I said, I wasn’t looking at this film to be a career changing move but more of a different kind of an experience,” he adds.
The actor, who admits to living out of a suitcase, is currently working on Meeratal, which earlier went by the working title Thillu Mullu, his Tamil film opposite Sharmila Mandre. “Meeratal will see me in a smart alec kind of role; it’s a drama and a romantic comedy and has a pretty impressive line-up of actors. This film also happens to be Sharmila’s debut into Tamil cinema,” informs Vinay.
Does he fit into the category of smart alecs in the industry? “I don’t think so. In reality I am quite a boring person,” he ends.
