Gautam Gulati who was playing the role of Vikram Rathi in Diya Aur Baati Hum has bid adieu to the show and Karan Goddwani is all set to replace him. While Gautam has been quoted saying he is quitting the show to pursue some film projects, sources say that he will be a part of Bigg Boss 8. "His last day of shoot for DABH is September 20 and Bigg Boss starts from 21st," says the source. The makers have now roped in Karan, last seen in Mrs Pammi Pyarelal, to play the role. Says Karan, "As actors we know which are the good production houses and when I got a call from Sumeet Mittal I was happy to go and give a screen test. I was finalised within two days."
For Karan, it will be a huge challenge not only fitting in the shoes of Gautam, but also essaying the Rajasthani character. "My background is completely different from Vikram. I am a Mumbaite now and brought up in Spain, so getting the Rajasthani dialect and speaking gaav ki bhasha will be a challenge," he says. Isn't he apprehensive about how will he be accepted as Vikram, especially since Gautam has been playing the role for three years? "Honestly, I did think about it but that's something which is not in my control. I will give my 200 per cent to the role and see how it goes," he admits candidly. Currently, Vikram who owns a saree shop is upset with his wife for several reasons, the major being her lying about giving birth to a son when she had a girl. Though she has owned up and brought back the girl Vikram hasn't gotten over his hatred. On the other hand, he has developed a soft corner for the girl (Vindhya Tiwari), he has appointed as his shop assistant.
Meanwhile...
Speculation is rife that the serial will go off air in the next three months. The ratings of the show have been on a downward swing since the last three weeks and the makers are trying to infuse freshness with new tracks. Gaurav Sharma who played the terrorist RK is back in the show. Last time his track had fetched high ratings for the show. They are probably hoping for the same again. However, producer Sumeet Mittal refuted it saying, "All these are baseless rumours. DABH is going through an interesting plot. Moreover it continues to get the love and support from its worldwide audience. Why should it be pulled off air?"
