Known for her strong screen presence actor Geetanjali Tikekar surprisingly has been lying low. Once a prominent face on television, she is currently seen in only one serial ‘Karam Apnaa Apnaa’ (Star Plus).
Geetanjali explains, “I am not getting roles better than or as good as Aporna’s in ‘Kasautii Zindagi Kay’ (Star Plus). I took up Maya in ‘Karam...’ because it’s powerful and has a streak of humour too. I want a powerful role and need to be well-paid. Either I do good work or do no work at all.”
Apparently, there is something else that is keeping Geetanjali occupied these days. “I am launching a clothes boutique in my hometown Pune with my brother Surendranath who is a fashion designer.” She says, “I am aware that a career in television is short-lived. I wanted to channelise my other interests.”
Interestingly, Geetanjali also enjoys writing. “I used to write for an IT magazine called Blue Note for which I also did graphic designing. I intend to start writing again,” she shares.
Geetanjali also loves to take pictures, sketch and paint. “These are my hobbies. Whenever I want to give gifts, I present a painting because it’s the best way to express myself.” Her varied interests also extend to housing three dogs and 12 cats in her Pune house. “Yes, people know about my love for animals. Often, they leave stray dogs at my gate knowing I will adopt them.”
Coming back to her professional world, how did she handle controversies regarding her link-up with co-star Cezanne Khan? “When people talk behind your back, it means that you are two steps ahead of them,” she replies.
Rumoured to be good friends with co-actor Sikander Kharbanda (‘Kasauti…’), is marriage on the cards for Geetanjali then? “I admit we have a liking for each other but marriage will have to wait. We are just getting to know each other,” she smiles.
