Actor Abhay Deol says his personal space is very important, as he opens up about love, life and relationships.

Actor Abhay Deol who is always taking risks in terms of his choice of films or even life says he had no intentions to be branded as a ‘risk-taker’. The actor has always believed in doing films that he connects with, without caring much about the box office prospects or banners.

“I do not know how this ‘risk-taker’ tag has gotten attached to my name. I have never thought too much about doing something unconventional or out of the box. It is in my nature to choose films that interest me and may be some of my choices have not been commercial. I am happy that the audience thinks I am taking risks because as an actor it is a huge compliment when someone says that ‘Abhay Deol has taken a risk which has paid off’.”

Abhay has also been quite vocal about his personal life. Currently he is dating model-turned-actress Preeti Desai but he does not believe in announcing to the whole world. “I am obviously not denying it but I am not going to announce it from rooftops either. My personal life is my personal space and I will not compromise on it.”

He also thinks that celebrities’ lives are up for grabs and has decided that it is his work that should speak for him. “If you clarify once (about his personal life), you will have to keep doing it time and again. That’s why I have decided that I am not going to talk about my relationships at all. I’d rather that my films talk for me.”

The actor recently agreed to endorse a liquor brand and admits that he is not bothered about receiving flak for spreading the ‘wrong message’ to his fans.

“The first time that I ever had liquor was when I was 17 with Bobby (Deol). A lot of people may be concerned that my endorsing a liquor brand will set a bad example but I am not encouraging people to drink. Youngsters need to know that if they are old enough to drink, they should be old enough to handle themselves responsibly as well.”
