Kollywood has geared up in a big way to welcome double Oscar winner AR Rahman, who will reach home on February 28, with doyens like Ilayaraja, Jesudas and SP Balasubramaniam likely to participate in a mega event in honour of the maestro.

A reception is being planned for the 'Mozart of Madras' at the airport on February 28 while a bigger event awaits the musician on March one in the city.

According to film industry sources, music directors MS Viswanathan, Ilayaraja and singers Jesudas and SP Balasubramaniam are likely to take part in the event.

The man who introduced Rahman to the film world, veteran director-producer K Balachander, among others, is scheduled to participate, the sources said.

Rahman won Oscars for the best original score for the film Slumdog Millionaire and best original song - Jai ho - which bagged eight honours at the 81st Academy Awards.
