Did you know that a local boy from Mumbai had dubbed for Dev Patel’s part in the Hindi version of Slumdog Millionaire? Well, he is none other than 22-year-old Pratik Motwani, who has graduated in Electronics and Telecommunication from Watumull College of Engineering, Worli. Pratik says,“I didn’t want to get into dubbing, but since it was only for one character (Jamaal played by Dev Patel), I agreed.”
Now, the young lad has put a full-stop to dubbing and has turned his attention to acting. He wants to become an actor and he’s gearing up for the same. He excitedly reveals, “I applied for a scholarship for a professional training programme in physical theatre at Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre, California and I just got it.”
And what exactly is physical theatre? He says, “It’s all about emoting using minimal words.” And since physical theatre is his area of interest, he wants to master the art like other actors in the industry. Pratik says, “I adore Irrfan Khan. Nasseeruddin Shah and Irrfan are very natural as actors. I also like Hrithik’s acting skills.”
Well, like any other person his age, Pratik also had a few doubts about the course he got scholarship for. This voice-over artist states, “Recently, I talked with Danny Boyle and he cleared a few queries that I had about the course and the International School in California.”
