Though actor Mohan Bhandari is back in the limelight with ‘Saat Phere’, he still yearns for films.

He was the flavour of television during the late 80s and early 90s. Playing author-backed roles with a rakish edge in shows  like ‘Khandaan’ and ‘Parampara’, won actor Mohan Bhandari a huge fan following. After leaving for the US, he made sporadic appearances with shows like ‘Abhiman’, ‘Palchin’ and ‘Kitty Party’.

But playing Narpat Singh, Saloni’s (Rajashree Thakur’s) father in ‘Saat Phere’ (Zee) seems to be a career renaissance for him.

A pleased Mohan says, “‘Saat Phere’ has won me two kinds of reactions. Some are surprised that I am playing such a helpless character and exclaim, ‘Aisa bhi kar lete ho, itna majboor character?’ While some appreciate that having always done powerful roles, I am playing a weak character for a change.”

Does the present saas bahu scenario disillusion him? Mohan confesses, “Yes it does at times. Earlier every character was well-etched. TRP has become God today. It’s like ‘andhey pakaye, kutte khaye’. I  guess I don’t know how to sell myself.”

So how does he view the future? “I’m a greedy actor. I want to do films. I also want to do a James Bond kind of show where mind power takes over muscle power,” says Mohan, who has the film ‘Marathon’ coming up. Refusing to limit his dreams, Mohan concludes, “Whenever I buy a new car, I say to myself ‘this is not my last car’. So there is no ultimate destination for me.”
