Khalid Siddiqui says that he is happy being an unambitious person
Remember the guy crooning a Jagjit Singh number to Perizaad Zorabian in Jogger’s Park? Well, that’s Khalid Siddiqui for you. The familiar face of several ads, Khalid, is making his small screen debut this year.
He has decided to make his TV debut with a thriller, which is jara hatke the current run-of-the-mill saas-bahu sagas. The show is named Hadsaa and it will be aired on Zee.
So why did he take so long? “I am not one of those ambitious kinds. I take whatever comes my way. I took a long time because I was just waiting for the right opportunity to knock on the door. When this role came, I quite liked it as it’s quite different from the family dramas,” he says.
When only the bickering of saas-bahus gets the highest TRPs, how optimistic he is about his show?
“I know saas-bahus rule the audiences. But, my show Hadsaa is not just a plain thriller, it has good blend of emotions. That’s why it’s an emotional thriller, a show which takes inspiration from real life events,” he adds.
After a promising start in Jogger’s Park, his movie career didn’t take off. Khalid, however, does not want to blame anybody and accepts his failure gracefully.
“I am a little laid back kind of a person. I don’t like begging for work and request people to take me in their films. Also, it’s needless to say that good offers didn’t quite come my way. And I did not want to settle for anything average. But, I am very happy with my career and I have no regrets. I have been doing modelling for more than 15 years now and that maintains the flow of money. I have got a very good response for my ads,” he says.
Everyone knows Khalid the model, but how’s he otherwise? “Well, I am a family man and I try to spend as much time as possible with my family whenever I am not working. I don’t have any burning passion in my belly to make it big, so I am quite happy with whatever I am doing in life. My ultimate aim is to be happy and content,” he signs off.
