Former supermodel Sheetal Mallar decides to bid adieu to the ramp completely; photography is now her new career

Once a reigning supermodel, Sheetal Mallar has been missing from the fashion circuit for quite some time now. However, from the time she stopped walking the ramp, we’ve spotted her shooting photographs at many fashion events with her camera. It seemed photography had become her passion. And yes, we were right!

When we asked Sheetal why she had bid adieu to the catwalk, she says, “I think my time has come to move on. It was not that I stopping enjoying modelling and doing fashion shows but I realised that I cannot do it forever. It is a very transient profession. One day it had to stop and I have decided to do something else now. I have started a new journey which is equally exciting and very creative. That isphotography.”

If you are thinking that it must have been a very difficult decision for Sheetal, you are wrong.

She says, “I was mentally prepared for the transition. I knew that I can’t do modelling forever. I have been doing it for a long time and I have loved being a part of the industry. It has given me a lot. I have made many friends but at the back of my mind I knew that one day had to come when I would have to take the decision to quit modelling.”

Sheetal adds, “So, when I decided to do something else I already had the power within me to accept quickly that I would not be modelling any more. I have happily made the transition. I always knew that I had to have something to fall back on when I’m not modelling and I loved photography since childhood. I have honed my talent always and this is what I want to do as my means of livelihood. Once in a while you might see me on the ramp but that’s basically because maybe my friend or someone close insists on having me.”

Having been associated with the best talents in the fashion industry, you must be wondering that Sheetal is looking at doing fashion photography. However, you are wrong.

“I would primarily do projects that are more conceptual. I love the classical photographers and their works. Though I would
do fashion photography once in a while, it is not my main interest area. I would do projects that give my creativity the chance to excel,” Sheetal signs off.
