I feel God is by my side: Jackky Bhagnani
Newcomer Jackky Bhagnani hopes to cash-in on the hunger of the die-hard cinelovers.
With Kal Kissne Dekha slated to become the first major release after the end of the two-month long deadlock between producers and multiplex owners, newcomer Jackky Bhagnani hopes to cash-in on the hunger of the die-hard cinelovers.
"I feel God is by my side as my film will be the first movie to release from the united forum and with the strong movie watching culture that we have here it is definitely going to work in our favour. As a newcomer I couldn't have asked for a better release date," Jackky said in an interview.
The film, which has been directed by Bhootnath fame Vivek Sharma, was to release on May 29 but it postponed due to the stand-off between multiplexes and Bollywood producers-distributors over profit sharing issue. It will now release on June 12.
"We postponed the release as it looked like the strike would end soon. If the film releases in multiplexes, I reach more people, which is good for a new actor like me," Jackky says.
The debutant says he is part nervous and part excited as the release date of the film approaches.
"I have worked hard for this film and I am very happy and excited that it is finally releasing but I feel nervous also. It is a feeling and emotion difficult for me to describe," he says.
Son of Bollywood producer Vasu Bhagnani, who is also producing the film, Jackky does not believe that children with a filmy background have it easy in the industry.
"I always wanted to become an actor but I was too shy to admit it and when I finally told my father about my decision, his first reaction was 'have you seen yourself in the mirror'.
"It hurt me but it also made me realise the truth that I was not mentally and physically fit to be an actor at that time," said the newcomer adding that his father's bitter words inspired him to lose over 40kgs.
"If my father had not been serious and blunt with me I would not be where I am today because I had always led a very protected life," says Jackky, who took acting classes at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute (New York) before starting his film career.
He has also assisted his producer father in films like Deewanapan and Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, which helped him to learn the other aspects of filmmaking.
"Practical experience helps you. I worked as associate producer and helped in direction a little bit, so I am aware about what it takes to complete that one perfect shot. You know that filmmaking is a lengthy process, you know that despite giving your best, things don't work sometime and above all you value things and don't take them for granted," the actor says about his experiences behind the camera.
"However, it all goes for a toss once you are before the camera but yes, it helps to understand the technicalities," he adds.
Jackky plays a small town boy Nihaal Singh in the romantic love story with inter-woven elements of thrill and action in the film which centres around campus life. Apart from Jackky, the film also marks the debut of Vaishali Desai the grand niece of yesteryear's filmmaker Jagmohan Desai.
Actor Rishi Kapoor and Archana Puran Singh are in pivotal roles in the film, which is a co-production between Vashu Bhagnani's Puja Films and Big Pictures.
Every newcomer dreads the prospect of his film not doing well at the box-office but Jackky says he says he is positive about his work without having unrealistic expectations.
"I have given my best to the film. And if the film doesn't work, I plan to continue working. Now that I have reached here I don't think anything can discourage me at all and honestly I am not looking forward to become a Hrithik Roshan overnight. that happens once in a lifetime.
"I want people to accept me as a new face, I have a whole career to make them love. If they love me from my very first film, that's an added advantage," Jackky says.
