Justin Timberlake has launched a scathing attack on the band that made him famous, calling his former band ‘N Sync "weird" and saying he “looked like a moron” during his time with them. The singer turned actor rose to fame with the group, which achieved success in the late Nineties with songs such as Tearin’ Up My Heart. Timberlake’s lead vocals, curly blond locks and high-profile relationship with Britney Spears made him the group’s main heart-throb but after he and the pop queen broke up in 2002 Timberlake, then 21, launched a solo career and adopted a more grown-up image. He has made a move into Hollywood, starring in such films as The Social Network and Friends With Benefits and recently became engaged to actress Jessica Biel, 30.But despite ‘N Sync providing the launch pad for his career Timberlake, now 31, doesn’t seem too enthusiastic about his old band. "There were many moments in my teenage years where I succumbed to, um, the weirdness of the group I was in,” the Daily Express quoted him as telling American magazine Details. "And in trying to conform we’re marionettes! I ended up looking like a moron," he said.In 2003, before ‘N Sync had formally dissolved, the singer told Rolling Stone that during the band’s success he had been "living in some small shape of oblivion” and never wanted "to do teen pop again".
