Last August, actor Bobby Deol was mercilessly trolled for his debut as a DJ at a Delhi nightclub, People "went crazy", apparently, but they did so "asking for a refund" even as he played songs from his 1997 hit film, Gupt.
Bobby told a newspaper that he was there as a celebrity guest and was not debuting as a DJ. He told a paper, “I love music but I’m not a DJ. People went crazy on social media, trolling and making fun of it. But what do you do? You go for an event and if you’re an actor, you are going to play your music. You are not going to play some other actor’s songs. In fact, I wasn’t playing my own music. It was the DJ playing my music. I am the star and everybody was there to see Bobby Deol.”
The 49-year-old explains that he agreed to go there as a friendly gesture. “It was one of those things that you agree to be a part of and then realise that it has been blown out of proportion. I’d say it was something I did and forgot about.”
While the social media barrage clearly has him miffed, he admits that there's little celebrities can do about it. He said, “On social media, people only want to put you down and that’s how it works. It happens to every actor, not just me. So it’s cool. But, I am a sensitive person. I am not someone who likes to give his opinion about other people because I feel that till you don’t know someone personally, you cannot judge or give opinions.”
