A still from Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum

Karan Kundra speaks to dna about his new show 'Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum', not being a method actor and Ekta Kapoor

For Karan Kundra, life has taken a 360 degree. He began his career with the Ekta Kapoor show Kitani Mohabbat Hai and is back playing a musician in Balaji Telefilms' Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum. In the midst of this, Karan is also juggling time shooting films and other television shows.

"Sure, the work is hectic, but I can't say no to Ekta (Kapoor) ma'am," says Karan. "She has been there through thick and thin during my career."

The show has Karan playing the rockstar son of a famous musician, who falls in love with a simple girl (played by newbie Saanvi Talwar). "The funny thing is that I've never liked rock music. My sister is a huge fan, but I keep asking her why she likes it, given that it has no melody," he joked.

Karan also admits that while he plays a rockstar, he didn't learn the guitar. "I don't believe in method acting. I didn't listen to rock music or learn the guitar. In an earlier show, I played a drug addict. That doesn't mean that I have to try narcotics. A number of people are method actors, but it doesn't work for me," he confessed.

While speaking on his co-star Saanvi, Karan said that she was initially intimidated by the entire set-up. "One of the scenes called for a peck on the lips, and Saanvi was terrified because it was new to her. It took me a lot of time convincing her. Thankfully, both of us are from Punjab and that helped break the ice," he said.

During the launch of the show last Thursday, Ekta Kapoor said that she was excited about working with &TV. "The are new in the GEC space, but have managed to surprised many with the content that they have produced."
Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum will air on &TV starting October 26, every Monday to Friday at 9.30pm
